I spent the afternoon with my mom — a little shopping, a little wandering, and then lunch.
Now, lunch used to be easy. You sat down, you ordered, you ate.
These days? Lunch comes with anxiety.
Because navigating food with my newly heightened awareness of how certain things can absolutely destroy my gut is… an experience.
I never really noticed before just how limited the choices can be at a “regular” restaurant. You scan the menu, then scan it again, then convince yourself that maybe you can make something work. At one point I truly thought I was going to have to settle for a salad.
And not even a good salad.
One of those sad ones that feels like punishment.
And then — there it was.
✨ GLUTEN FREE PIZZA ✨
Cauliflower crust.
I nearly ordered it so fast I didn’t even finish reading the description. I braced myself for disappointment (because let’s be honest, gluten-free can be hit or miss)… but it was actually really good. Like, “I would order this again on purpose” good.
It felt like a small win — but honestly, those small wins matter. Finding something you can eat without fear, enjoying a meal without mentally preparing for consequences, and just… being present.
Sometimes it’s not about big victories or life-changing moments.
Sometimes, it’s just about finding gluten-free pizza —
and letting yourself enjoy it. 🍕💛
