Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic

Cofresi Palm Beach & Spa – my home away from home
Cofresi Palm Beach & Spa Resort is located in Puerto Plata and is part of a large, lively resort complex shared with Lifestyle Vacations.
Rooms
The room was clean and comfortable, though a little dated and definitely could use some TLC. That said, cleanliness was never an issue and housekeeping did a solid job throughout our stay.
Staff & Service
One thing that really stood out for me was the friendly, welcoming staff. From check-in to dining to getting around the resort, the service was consistently warm and helpful.
Dining

We chose to upgrade to VIP, and for us, it was absolutely worth it.
- The Casablanca Buffet offered tons of variety, with a different theme every night, which kept meals from feeling repetitive.
- The à la carte restaurants were a highlight — especially the Brazilian Rodizio, which ended up being our favorite.
Resort Layout
This is a very large resort, so it’s important to know what you’re booking into.
The good news is there’s a shuttle running about every 15 minutes, making it easy to move between different areas without feeling overwhelmed.
Because the property is shared with Lifestyle Vacations, not all areas are accessible on a standard all-inclusive package — something I always like to be upfront about.
Location Note
One nice bonus is that Ocean World Adventure Park is located right next door, making it a convenient option for guests who want an easy off-resort activity without traveling far.

Beach
The beach was nice and relaxing, and a pleasant place to spend the day. While it’s not what I’d call a “wow” Caribbean beach, it’s well maintained and enjoyable.
LHVC Membership — Full Transparency
Guests will be approached about becoming an LHVC (Lifestyle Holidays Vacation Club) member.
Full transparency: we enjoyed this resort so much that we did choose to sign up, and for us, the added perks have been worthwhile.
That said, you do not need LHVC perks to enjoy this resort — it stands well on its own as an all-inclusive option.
Final Thoughts

Cofresi Palm Beach & Spa Resort offers great dining, friendly service, and solid overall value, especially for travelers who enjoy a large resort with plenty of variety.
Because of the size and layout, it may not be the best option for travelers with mobility issues, even with the shuttle system in place.
That said, there’s something about the Dominican Republic that keeps pulling me back. The energy, the warmth of the people, and the overall vibe are exactly why my heart belongs here — and why this is the place I see myself retiring one day.
If you’re someone who values people, culture, and atmosphere just as much as the resort itself, Puerto Plata — and the DR as a whole — has a way of staying with you.
